Riker Danzig is proud to once again be the title sponsor of the Newport 10,000, which takes place on Saturday, May 6th at 8:30 a.m. in Newport, on the Jersey City Hudson River waterfront. This 10K (6.2 mile) run has grown incredibly in the last few years, attracting more than 1,800 recreational and professional runners in 2016. Riker Danzig has over 80 runners registered for our team this year, including our own Elite runner Ashley Higginson! This past summer, Ashley participated in the USA Track & Field Olympic trials. She qualified for and competed in the final of the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Previously, Ashley won a gold medal in the steeplechase at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, and competed for the USA in the steeplechase at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow.
Called "the fastest course in the tri-state area," the Riker Danzig Newport 10,000 has become one of the elite races of the Northeast. The course, described as "flat and fast," weaves through Jersey City brownstones and finishes at Newport along the Hudson County Waterfront Walkway with spectacular views of the New York skyline. Newport, a longtime client of the firm, is a 600-acre waterfront "live, work, shop and dine" community situated opposite lower Manhattan. We will again host a Riker Danzig hospitality tent, at which Riker Danzig runners and spectators are invited both before and after the race.
