Environmental Attorney Matthew Karmel Quoted Re Food Waste in NJ
Matthew A. Karmel, an attorney in Riker Danzig’s Environmental Law Group, was recently quoted in an article entitled “As New Jersey Rethinks Food Waste Policy, Role of Landfills a Key Question” on Waste Dive, an online news source covering waste and recycling issues. The article discusses the growing interest and discussion regarding tackling food waste in New Jersey and the uncertain progress the state is making in this area. Matt shares thoughts on the State’s current planning process as a member of the NJ Composting Committee. “We think that it’s a great opportunity to address organics recycling and composting, and a lot of the hurdles.” Matt also opined on pending legislation and the need for improved regulations. “We need to educate people and make sure that everyone understands the benefits that come from this — both financial and societal.”
