Environmental Attorney Matthew Karmel Quoted Re Food Waste in NJ
Matthew A. Karmel, an attorney in Riker Danzig’s Environmental Law Group, was quoted in an article entitled “Advocates Remain Hopeful for New Jersey Food Waste Recycling Bill” on Waste360, an online news source covering waste and recycling issues. The article discusses how Matt and other environmental advocates are hopeful that bill S1206/A3726, which would require recycling of food waste by “large food waste generators,” passes the vote before the legislation expires at the end of the current legislative session on January 14th.
According to Matt, “The numbers are staggering when it comes to the environmental impact of reducing food waste… when you match that with the fact that there is economic benefit to be gained from these things, then it’s a win-win.” He adds, “Sustainable businesses are going to be a huge feature of 2020 and the next decade.”
