Riker Danzig is hosting a presentation on New Jersey’s new International Arbitration, Mediation and Conciliation Act, which makes mediated settlements binding as if they were a judgment of the court. Earlier this year New Jersey became just the sixth state in the country to pass such a law. The presentation will be on Thursday, May 4, at 2:00 PM at the Firm’s Morristown office.
Professor David S. Weiss, Founder and Director of the Institute for Dispute Resolution, New Jersey City University-School of Business, will introduce this Act and will provide a brief overview of the law, the intent, and how it will be executed upon to provide an enforcement mechanism for parties and their advisors when seeking to use mediation as a means of settlement of disputes with an international nexus to one of the parties where enforcement is sought.
