Riker Danzig Welcomes Brenda C. Liss

Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti LLP is pleased to announce that Brenda C. Liss has joined the firm as counsel.

Brenda C. Liss, of Morristown, practices in Riker Danzig's School Law Group. She formerly served as Executive Director of the Institute on Education Law and Policy, Rutgers School of Law. She is the author of the Institute’s published report, New Jersey’s Interdistrict Public School Choice Program: Program Evaluation and Policy Analysis; co-author of Shared Services in School Districts: Policies, Practices and Recommendations, QSAC: A Guide for Public Officials and the Public, New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum (QSAC): 2006 Pilot Program Evaluation, Don’t Forget the Schools: Legal Considerations for Tax Reform, and Setting the Stage for Informed, Objective Deliberation on School Choice; and a contributor to Developing a Plan for Reestablishing Local Control in the State-operated School Districts.

Ms. Liss joined the Institute on Education Law and Policy in 2002, after having spent 16 with McCarter & English, LLP, where her clients included public school districts and private schools in New Jersey.

Ms. Liss received a B.A. from Colgate University in 1977 and a J.D. from Rutgers Law School – Newark in 1984, where she was the recipient of the Justice Fredrick W. Hall Prize and the Carol Russ Memorial Prize. She served as law clerk to Hon. Stephen Skillman, J.S.C., in a special assignment involving cases brought under the New Jersey Supreme Court’s Mt. Laurel doctrine. Ms. Liss is admitted to practice in New Jersey and before the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
