Riker Danzig Welcomes Heidi I. Hansen

Riker Danzig is pleased to welcome Heidi I. Hansen back to the Firm.  She returns to Riker Danzig after working for four years in the Office of Chief Counsel at the Internal Revenue Service.  Heidi's work at the IRS included handling all aspects of United States Tax Court cases including discovery, trial and settlement negotiations.  She also provided advice and assistance to the Department of Justice and the Unites States Attorney’s Office in tax cases filed in District Court and the Court of Claims. Heidi also provided extensive guidance to revenue officers relating to their tax collection efforts.  As such, she returns to Riker Danzig with extensive experience in tax controversy on both the state and federal levels and has extensive knowledge of collection procedures and alternatives.

In addition to representing clients before state and federal taxing authorities and in tax court,  Heidi will resume her practice in the firm’s Tax and Trusts & Estates Group, where she will handle individual estate plans, trusts, charitable planning and provide general tax advice.  She will also continue counseling charitable organizations on various tax and operational issues.

Heidi is a 1997 graduate of Weber State University, where she received a B.S.  She received her J.D., with honors, from Rutgers University School of Law – Newark in 2001 and was inducted into the Order of the Coif.  In addition, Heidi holds an LL.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law. 

She is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York.
