HRA Medicaid Alert
Please take the time to read the MEDICAID ALERT from HRA (New York City Medicaid) regarding Medicaid applications/Recertifications/NAMI and how to sign the application if the applicant is unable, due to the COVID-19 emergency.
The key points we would like to get across from this new policy are as follows:
- New applications should be submitted regardless of whether proper identification and demographics are available at the time of submission, with the client attesting to all conditions of eligibility, except Immigration status and Identity. You will be permitted to provide same at a later date;
- Renewal/Recertifications are granted a 12-month extension. Furthermore, no Medicaid cases will be closed for failure to renew or failure to provide documentation;
- Excess resource cases will be granted a 6-month extension; and
- Hospitals or nursing homes can use the MAP-3044 to sign the application on behalf of the resident.
Please note that the above only applies for the period of the COVID-19 emergency.
Now is the time to come together and be a resource for one another. We will circulate any new developments that arise and we are to help in any way we can.
Everyone be well and stay safe.
