Marilynn R. Greenberg

Marilynn R. Greenberg is Of Counsel in the Firm’s Environmental Group.

Her practice encompasses all aspects of environmental law, including transactional matters, litigation, insurance coverage, permitting, solid waste, indoor air quality (asbestos and mold), real estate development (brownfields and greenfields), defense of enforcement actions, and expert testimony.

Marilynn counsels clients regarding regulatory compliance with a variety of state and federal environmental statutes and regulations, with particular emphasis on the Site Remediation Reform Act and Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) Program, the Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA), the Waterfront and Freshwater Wetlands Laws and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA or Superfund). She also has unique expertise in handling matters involving the confluence of environmental and bankruptcy issues. She has handled environmental matters throughout the Northeastern Region and California.

Marilynn is a frequent speaker and author, having spoken recently at several seminars regarding the Site Remediation Reform Act, the LSRP Program, and Waterfront Development Permitting. She has authored articles on various brownfields redevelopment topics, natural resource damages, CAFRA, and mold.

Marilynn served for eight years as general counsel for environmental matters to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. Other representative current and former clients are Newport Associates Development Company, Simon Property Group, the Rockefeller Group, Roseland Property Company (n/k/a Mack-Cali), Coach USA, Bed Bath & Beyond, Carrier Clinic, GAF Corporation, Reliance Electric Company, Atlantic City Electric Company (f/k/a Conectiv), FirstEnergy, Morris Energy Group, Supreme Energy Group, Calpine Energy Company, Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, the Borough of Chatham, the Township of West Caldwell, and the Township of Howell. In 2017, she was appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court to the State Ethics Committee for Essex County.

Marilynn is the former Chair of the Township of Livingston’s Environmental Commission. She also served on the Livingston Zoning Board of Adjustment. She is a member of the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce’s Environmental Committee, the Society of Women Environmental Professionals, and the NJDEP Site Remediation Advisory Group.
