Riker Danzig LLP is proud to announce that Partner Robert P. Vacchiano has been appointed as Vice President of the Brennan-Vanderbilt Inn of Court, New Jersey’s oldest Inn. Robert has been a member of the Inn’s executive board since 2024 and served as the Inn’s Treasurer prior to his appointment as Vice President. Robert has been a member of the Inn since 2017.
Inspired by the traditional English Inns of Court, which played a critical role in legal education dating back to the mid-thirteenth century, the American Inns of Court were conceived in the late 1970s through the efforts of United States Supreme Court Chief Justice Warren Burger. They were formed as informal societies intended to improve ethics, skills, and professionalism in the legal system.
The American Inns of Court Foundation, the national body organized to promote and charter local inns of court, describes the Inns as “an association of lawyers, judges and other legal professionals from all levels and backgrounds who share a passion for professional excellence. Through regular meetings, members are able to build and strengthen professional relationships; discuss fundamental concerns about professionalism and pressing legal issues of the day; share experiences and advice; exhort the utmost passion and dedication for the law; provide mentoring opportunities; and advance the highest levels of integrity, ethics and civility.”
The Brennan-Vanderbilt Inn seeks to promote legal excellence in civil litigation and fidelity to the highest standards of professionalism. The Inn gathers monthly with meetings centered around a litigation and trial skills CLE program involving demonstrations by the Inn’s “Masters and Barristers” and pupil exercises followed by constructive critiques. At the conclusion of the meetings, all members of the Inn enjoy a dinner during which thoughts and ideas are shared and discussed.
The Brennan-Vanderbilt Inn is beginning its next two-year term this fall. The Inn is now welcoming its next class of attorneys wanting to learn and improve their litigation and trial skills as pupils at the Inn.
