Riker Danzig LLP is pleased to announce the expansion and enhancement of its Appellate Practice, including the debut of the Appellate Law Blog, a new resource designed to provide attorneys, general counsel and businesses with timely analysis and practical guidance on appellate law.
While appellate law has been an integral part of Riker’s litigation practice for decades, the Firm is formalizing its commitment with a dedicated team, expanded resources, and a structured approach to guiding clients through complex appellate matters.
The group includes former New Jersey Superior Court Judge Victor Ashrafi and benefits from the hands-on involvement of seasoned appellate practitioners with extensive experience in New Jersey’s Appellate Division and Supreme Court, New York’s appellate courts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second and Third Circuits.
Michael P. O’Mullan, Managing Partner of Riker Danzig and a member of the Firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice, said, “The combination of judicial perspective and courtroom experience within our Appellate Practice provides strategic advantage to our clients at every stage of the appellate process. Our appellate attorneys not only brief and argue cases but also work alongside trial counsel, corporate counsel, and even other law firms to refine strategy, sharpen written arguments, and prepare for oral advocacy. Whether defending a hard-fought win or seeking to overturn a lower court ruling, they bring clarity, focus, and creativity to the appellate arena.”
A unique offering of Riker Danzig’s expanded Appellate Practice is the offering of amicus representation on a fixed-fee basis. The fixed fee structure will provide clients with cost certainty and strategic advocacy. Following an expedited review of the matter, Riker’s appellate team will deliver a carefully-crafted amicus brief and, if requested and permitted by the court, oral argument to the client’s position.
The group’s experience spans virtually every sector of law and business, including corporate, commercial and financial services, environmental and toxic torts, employment and unfair competition, intellectual property, insurance, securities, real estate, public utilities, construction, trusts and estates, and family law.
The Appellate Law Blog will serve as a platform for the Appellate Law Strategies group to cover topics relevant to in-house counsel and key industry and company stakeholders, including briefing strategy, preservation of issues for appeal, standards of review, and significant decisions from New Jersey’s courts and the Third Circuit.
