November 4, 2026

Riker Danzig is pleased to announce that Paul H. Shur has joined the Firm as a Partner in its Financial Services Group.

With over three decades of transactional and litigation-based commercial finance experience, Paul represents banks and privately-held financial institutions across a broad range of asset-based lending and debt restructuring. His practice also encompasses letters of credit, title insurance defense, and real estate-secured transactions, with an emphasis on the Uniform Commercial Code.

Riker Danzig Co-Chair A.J. Borrelli stated, “Paul's arrival deepens a financial services practice that has been core to our Firm since day one. His work in secured lending and real estate loans complements our long-standing strengths in securities, commercial litigation, and bankruptcy/corporate restructuring, while his leadership in the banking community through his involvement in the American College of Commercial Finance Attorneys and the Secured Finance Network reflects a stature that few in this field achieve. We're excited to welcome him to Riker.”

Paul commented, “Not many firms can point to the kind of history Riker Danzig has in representing financial institutions, and I’m excited to join a practice with that reputation and client base. I look forward to bringing my experience in commercial finance to a group that has been doing related work at the highest level for decades, and to help build on it.”

Paul is a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Commercial Finance Attorneys and serves as Education Chair to the New Jersey and New York Chapters of the Secured Finance Network. He is also Board Member Emeritus and former Chair of the Banking Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He has written extensively on commercial finance topics, including issues related to commercial transactions, second lien financing, Uniform Commercial Code, equipment finance, and loan participation. Additionally, he is a frequent speaker at industry seminars and conferences throughout New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania on commercial finance topics for clients and continuing legal education.

Paul is admitted to practice in the states of New York, New Jersey, and Florida; The U.S. District Courts in the District of New Jersey and the Southern District of New York; the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit; and the United States Supreme Court.

Paul earned his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law and his B.A. in History from Rutgers University. Prior to joining Riker Danzig, he practiced at Becker in New York, where he served as the head of their Banking and Finance group.
