Environmental Attorney Matthew Karmel Co-Authors Article on Food Waste Laws
Matthew A. Karmel, an attorney in Riker Danzig’s Environmental Law Group, recently co-authored an article for NJBIZ titled “A New Recipe: What Businesses Need to Know About Mandatory Food Waste Recycling Laws.” The article discusses the new food waste recycling mandates in both New Jersey and New York, including similarities and differences between the state laws. The article also describes many benefits to organizations that make a commitment to a more sustainable food ecosystem, whether or not required by the mandates, including “employee engagement and retention for ‘doing good’ actions, driving behavior change, new job creation and employee training designed with a quality job strategy to manage your new approach to a food value system. . . . The entire food ecosystem will benefit from addressing the imbalance of food scarcity and food waste.”
Matt co-authored the article with Pamela C. Sammarco, who is the founder and CEO of Green Training Associates LLC. Click here for the entire article.
