Riker Danzig was featured in Law360’s article “New Jersey Powerhouse:  Riker Danzig” on August 6, 2021, as a selected “Powerhouse Law Firm” for 2021.

The article notes that our accomplishments were possible despite the COVID-19 pandemic “through the dedication of its attorneys to their clients and their proactive approach to case management.”

The article details a few of our notable wins for our clients over the past year, including a precedent-setting appeal before the New Jersey Supreme Court for Sun Chemical relating to Consumer Fraud Act claims.  Co-Managing Partner Lance Kalik, who led the Riker team for Sun Chemical, said of the case, “This clarified a body of law that needed some clarification.”

In another significant case before the NJ Supreme Court for the Bank of New York Mellon, the Court took the rare step of overturning factual findings that had been affirmed by the Appellate Division.  Co-Managing Partner Michael O’Donnell, lead appellate counsel in the case, said, “It is quite hard to get credibility findings reversed in not only New Jersey, but anywhere.”

The article also discussed a first impression ruling in the Appellate Division for Ethicon that is expected to have broad implications for products liability cases.  Firm Co-Chair Kelly Crawford, who leads Riker Danzig’s Ethicon team, said, “We have a really strong reputation in many areas of law in New Jersey, but our products group in particular, going back to the '60s, has had a really strong presence in national products litigation for a New Jersey regional firm."
