Client Restoration Hardware Approved for Next Step in Restoring Abbey in Morris Township

November 13, 2020

In the next successful step of a redevelopment plan for client Restoration Hardware that will save and restore the historic Abbey in Morris Township, the Morris Township Committee approved an ordinance approving a tax abatement for the redevelopers on November 12, 2020.

The Committee approved the PILOT agreement (Payments in Lieu of Taxes) between the Township and the developer, Madison Avenue Urban Renewal LLC.  After renovation, the mansion will be transformed into a two-story showroom, outdoor furniture gallery, wine bar and restaurant on the site, while preserving the Abbey’s historic facade, great hall, library, dining room, and drawing rooms.  Preservation of the historic character of the site is a centerpiece of Restoration Hardware’s plan.

The significance of the ordinance approval is covered in a November 13, 2020 MorristownGreen.com story, available here.
