Labor and Employment associate Natalya G. Johnson was sworn in as a member of the Garden State Bar Association Board of Directors for the 2019-2020 bar year at the GSBA’s 44th Anniversary Scholarship and Awards Gala at the Princeton Forrestal Marriott on Saturday, June 15, 2019.  In 2018, Natalya received the Young Lawyer of the Year Award from the Garden State Bar Association.

The GSBA is New Jersey’s oldest and largest professional organization for African-American judges, lawyers and law students, helping African-American and other ethnic minorities in becoming an effective part of the judicial and legal systems. In an effort to give back to the community, 26 years ago, the GSBA created a Scholarship Fund to help African-American law students attending schools in New Jersey. The GSBA gave out 12 scholarships to students totaling $30,0000 at the Gala this year.

Over 250 people attended the gala to honor trailblazers in the legal profession including federal judges, administrative judges, state court judges, law firms, in-house companies, politicians, the president of the African American Chamber of Commerce, the Dean of Seton Hall law school and many more. Riker Danzig alumnus Dara Aquila Govan, now an Assistant United States Attorney, was installed as President of the GSBA at the event.

Natalya is also Chair of the GSBA’s Continuing Legal Education Committee.
