Riker Danzig Elects One New Partner and Three New Counsel

Riker Danzig is pleased to announce that it has elected one new partner and appointed three new counsel, effective January 2020.

Riker Danzig’s newly-elected partner is:


Tara J. Schellhorn
, who practices in Riker Danzig's Bankruptcy and Reorganization Group. Her practice focuses on all aspects of bankruptcy and restructuring including the representation of debtors, creditors’ committees, trustees, financial institutions, secured lenders, unsecured creditors and other parties in interest in complex chapter 11 cases.  Tara also has experience in bankruptcy litigation including prosecuting and defending nondischargeability, preference and other avoidance actions.  In addition, she has significant experience representing clients on complex corporate lending issues including the representation of indenture trustees in default and bankruptcy situations.  Tara is Co-Chair of the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC)-New Jersey Network and U.S. Program Committee Co-Director for the IWIRC International Board.  She was recently honored as one of the American Bankruptcy Institute’s “40 Under 40,” and is the Co-Education Director of the ABI Young and New Members Committee and a Contributing Editor of the ABI Journal.  In addition, Tara is a member of the Lawyers Advisory Committee to the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey, Co-Chair of the Morris County Bar Association's Women Lawyers Committee and a member of the Board of Advisors of the Widener University Commonwealth Law School.  She graduated from Gettysburg College, magna cum laude, and earned her J.D. from Widener University School of Law - Harrisburg, magna cum laude.

Appointed to Counsel are:

Jorge A. Sanchez, who practices in Riker Danzig’s Commercial Litigation Group.  His practice includes a variety of commercial litigation cases, with a particular focus on real estate and title insurance litigation.  He regularly handles a wide variety of complex matters, including business and shareholder disputes and litigation, title insurance claims and coverage investigations, disputes and litigations involving mortgage fraud, forgery, mortgage priority disputes, boundary line and ownership disputes, and quiet title and ejectment claims, lender liability claims, commercial foreclosures, and commercial lease litigation. Jorge received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Rutgers University – Rutgers College.  He received his law degree, cum laude, from Rutgers University School of Law – Newark, where he was Senior Notes Editor and Associate Editor of the Rutgers Law Record, and Order of the Coif.

Hunt S. Ricker, who practices in the Firm’s Securities Litigation, Arbitration, Regulation and Investigations Group.  Hunt has extensive experience representing broker-dealers and their employees in a broad range of matters, including sales practice arbitrations, employment disputes, subpoenas, and regulatory enforcement defense.  He routinely litigates before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) throughout the country and in both the state and federal courts in New Jersey and New York.  His practice is focused on defending sales practice claims brought by customers against broker-dealers alleging violations of SEC/FINRA Rules, and claims for unsuitability, churning, unauthorized trading, failure to supervise, failure to follow instructions, fraud and breach of fiduciary duty.  Hunt also regularly handles complex commercial disputes ranging from breach of contract to intellectual property disputes.  He earned his B.A. from the College of Charleston, and earned his J.D. from New York Law School.

Rebecca A. Borgese, who practices in the Firm’s Securities Litigation, Arbitration, Regulation and Investigations and Commercial Litigation Groups.  Her practice focuses on securities arbitration and litigation representing broker-dealers and registered representatives, defending against alleged violations of SEC/FINRA Rules, and claims for unsuitability, churning, unauthorized trading, fraud and breach of fiduciary duty.  Rebecca also represents broker-dealers and registered representatives in regulatory examinations and disciplinary proceedings.  She received her J.D., cum laude, from the Georgetown University Law Center.  Rebecca graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics.  Prior to joining Riker Danzig in 2015, she served as Assistant General Counsel for UBS Financial Services Inc.
