Stuart Lederman Represents CRDA in Eminent Domain Case

October 31, 2016

Partner Stuart Lederman has been quoted in the Star-Ledger, Inquisitr, Press of Atlantic City, NBC40.net, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and on nj.com regarding his representation of long-time client the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) in an eminent domain dispute in Atlantic City.  At issue is the CRDA’s attempt to take a home by eminent domain for a mixed-use development.  Denying the plaintiff homeowner’s request for additional discovery, a Superior Court judge in Atlantic County has asked both sides to provide additional briefs on the issues in dispute, a request Stuart welcomes and finds consistent with existing law.

Previously, Stuart had noted that the New Jersey Legislature “has recognized that the economic engine of the casinos in Atlantic City is vital to the success of the State of New Jersey” and that the public purpose was reinvigorating the tourism industry in Atlantic City.

A hearing has been scheduled for August 28, 2014.
