NJDEP Developments

October 30, 2016
  • NJDEP's Environmental Regulation ("ER") section recently put its web-page on-line at http://www.state.nj.us/dep/er. The web-page offers quick links to various environmental quality programs, thus operating as a central location for various divisions, bureaus and offices of NJDEP. For instance, the ER web-page allows access to Air Quality, Pollution Prevention and Permit Coordination, Radiation Protection, Solid and Hazardous Waste and Water Quality programs. Additionally, the Clean Air Council, the Delaware River Basin Commission and the Low Level Radioactive Waste Siting Board's web pages are linked to the ER page.
  • On August 10, 2000, NJDEP's Office of Site Remediation released the latest issue of the Site Remediation Newsletter. Headlines of this issue include: "Biennial Requirements for Deed Notices and Engineering Controls," "Tidal Inlets - A Major Hurdle to Effectively Protecting Sensitive Coastal Resources," and "Permits from the Bureau of Water Pollution Abatement." The newsletter is available on-line at http://www.state.nj.us/dep/srp.
  • On August 9, 2000, NJDEP released a video entitled "Renewing New Jersey's Brownfields: Repairing the Past, Preparing for the Future." The video may be viewed on-line, with a Real Player plug-in.
  • NJDEP recently proposed comprehensive rules that would govern well drilling, permitting, and driller licensing. These rules codify many of the existing procedures and policies that the NJDEP has implemented pursuant to the Subsurface and Percolating Waters Act, N.J.S.A. 58:4A-4.1. Significantly, the rules would establish new construction standards for all types of wells and a specific "monitoring well driller license" required of drillers who install monitoring wells and soil borings in connection with activities under the Site Remediation Program. See 32 N.J.R. 2832 (August 7, 2000).
  • Site Remediation Rules - Sunset Review - NJDEP representatives recently stated that the agency plans to publish notice of across-the-board proposed amendments to the Technical Requirements for Site Remediation, N.J.A.C. 7:26E, during February 2001. NJDEP solicited pre-publication comments from the regulated community this summer and currently is preparing the proposed revisions.
