Research and Information Services Librarian
Riker Danzig LLP is seeking a Research and Information Services Librarian who will be responsible for providing attorneys and support staff substantive research including, but not limited to, legal, marketing, business, and competitive intelligence. In addition, the Research and Information Services Librarian provides services that include training and assistance to firm attorneys and support staff on the selection and use of electronic library materials. This person will also be required to manage and maintain physical resources, as necessary. This position can be hybrid. Will consider part-time.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct research for attorneys and support staff using appropriate online and other research materials.
• Provide training on research strategies and resources.
• As needed, coordinate access to resources at other libraries.
• Assist the firm’s business development initiatives by creating and maintaining litigation alerts and evaluating and distributing results to attorneys.
• Maintain awareness of current legal and business research materials, techniques, strategies, and resources; build research skills in new areas of the law and new technologies.
• Maintain access to electronic resources
• Prepare an annual budget.
• Meet with the Library Committee on a regular basis to discuss new products and expenses.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Must have 2+ years of experience conducting research in a legal setting, preferably in a law firm library or legal research center.
• Must have a bachelor’s degree in library science or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. A master’s or JD degree is not required but considered a plus.
• Experience using Artificial Intelligence to enhance legal research .
• Extensive experience with legal research tools such as Westlaw, Lexis, VitalLaw and other platforms is required.
• Desire to keep skills up to date and relevant and enthusiasm for exploring emerging research platforms.
• Creative problem-solving ability.
• Work independently, take initiative, and see projects through to completion.
• Effectively multi-task and prioritize projects while meeting all appropriate deadlines.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism.
