Jason Navarino Featured on NACD’s “Boardroom Buzz” Episode

July 11, 2024

Corporate and Tax Partner Jason D. Navarino was interviewed on “Boardroom Buzz,” a video series presented by the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), New Jersey Chapter.  NACD-NJ board member Julia Fisher hosted the interview, which was released on video on July 10, 2024.

As both a corporate lawyer and a member of nonprofit boards, Jason was asked for his insights into the role of a board member.  He noted the opportunities presented by the increase in meetings via Zoom and similar technology, particularly with respect to fostering more diversity on boards.  He stressed the problem-solving function of boards at the end of the day, given that management is “in the weeds,” handling the day-to-day tasks.  He said that the job of a board member is to take a step back and bring a different perspective, “understanding that your role is not to replace management but it is also not to rubberstamp management.”  Jason also highlighted the importance of being part of a team, focusing on strategy and problem-solving, and making the business or the organization better.

Jason is a member of the Board of Directors for the Microlumbia Impact Fund of Columbia Business School and is the Immediate Past President of the Morristown Jewish Center Beit Yisrael.  He is also a former member of the Board of Trustees of Future Problem Solving Program International, Inc., an educational nonprofit organization, and a former member and officer of the boards of its New York and New Jersey affiliates.
