Michael Furey, head of Riker Danzig’s Labor & Employment Group, has been selected as the Morris County Bar Association’s Lawyer of the Year. Mr. Furey was honored at the New Jersey Bar Association’s Professionalism Awards Luncheon on October 6, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency in New Brunswick. The awards ceremony recognized those attorneys who have made a difference in the legal profession through their service to clients and the community.
Mr. Furey has a diverse practice which includes both employment and commercial litigation components in federal and State courts. He regularly performs employment-related trial work and counseling for clients on discrimination, whistleblower and contract claims and issues. Mr. Furey also maintains an extensive commercial litigation practice, often being involved in disputes relating to partnerships, the sale of businesses, trade secrets and restrictive covenants. He makes time for pro bono legal work and community activities as well. Mr. Furey is a trustee of Legal Services of New Jersey, and Chair of the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Disciplinary Oversight. He has also served as President and Chair of the New Jersey Ballet, and on the Board of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
