Riker Danzig partners Tracy Green Landauer and Jason D. Navarino, both of whom advise numerous Nonprofit organizations on tax exemption and corporate matters, led a team of attorneys that represented the Alliance for Lupus Research (“ALR”) in its merger with the Lupus Research Institute (“LRI”) and the S.L.E. Lupus Foundation to form the Lupus Research Alliance. The three legacy Nonprofit organizations have devoted more than 75 years collectively to finding better treatments and a cure for lupus and are responsible for funding over $200 million to support lupus research programs.
Tracy Landauer, resident in Riker Danzig’s New York office and partner in the Tax and Trust & Estates Group, states, “This merger ushers in an exciting new chapter in the effort to find new scientific discoveries to advance the prevention, treatment and cure of lupus. The newly combined entity will be able to operate more efficiently and, as the largest private sector organization dedicated to advancing lupus research, the Lupus Research Alliance will be a relentless champion for the lupus community.” By bringing together the three organizations as the Lupus Research Alliance, the new Nonprofit organization, headquartered in New York City, will inspire and drive even greater cutting-edge scientific exploration and results to improve diagnosis and therapy.
Riker attorneys working on the merger included Robert Daleo, James Karas, Adam McInerney, Joshua Greenfield, Nicole Figliolina, Michael LaTempa and Rachel Gillen.
