On September 16, 2020, Riker Danzig's Environmental Group presented a webinar, "Brownfields: Coordinating Site Remediation and Redevelopment." Once a daunting prospect, redevelopers in New Jersey have become comfortable purchasing environmentally impacted properties (Brownfields). This is especially true when property is repurposed for the booming e-commerce industry, which is seeking warehouse space in strategic locations near New Jersey’s ports and highways. The complexities involved in these transactions need careful thought by sellers and purchasers, and also their environmental consultant/LSRP and counsel. Failure to coordinate site remediation and redevelopment can create elongated schedules resulting in increased costs for all involved. The Environmental Group discussed lessons learned and practical considerations so that site remediation and redevelopment can proceed hand-in-hand.
