NJDEP Amends Underground Storage Tank Rules

October 30, 2016

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection amended the underground storage tank rules at N.J.A.C. 7:14B.  The adopted changes, which were proposed in July 1998, implement the requirements of the Brownfield and Contaminated Site Remediation Act to encourage the cleanup and redevelopment of contaminated sites (brownfields) in New Jersey.  The UST rules set forth the procedures for the prevention and control of hazardous substances discharges from UST systems.  The adopted amendments to the rules make the department's formula for assessing the cost for overseeing the remediation of contaminated sites consistent with the oversight rules.
