George B. Forbes is Counsel in the Firm’s Commercial Litigation Group, where he handles a wide range of commercial and civil litigation matters. With over 20 years of litigation experience, George represents clients in New York and New Jersey state and federal courts, from inception through resolution, including trial.
Before joining Riker Danzig, George served as an Assistant Attorney General for the New York State Attorney General’s Office at the Brooklyn Regional Office/Affirmative Litigation Bureau, where he conducted civil fraud investigations and initiated civil enforcement actions on New York State’s behalf, including matters involving consumer fraud, immigration services fraud, and deed fraud. He received the Louis J. Lefkowitz Memorial Award for exemplary performance during his tenure. George previously served as Unit Chief for the Civil Litigation/Freedom of Information Department at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, and as Assistant District Attorney in the Civil Litigation Bureau of the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office.
Before entering public service, George practiced law in private practice in New Jersey and New York, representing clients in employment, contract, consumer fraud, ERISA, franchisor/franchisee dispute and insurance coverage matters.
George earned his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law-Newark, where he received the Nathan N. Schildkraut Award for appellate advocacy. He served as President of the Student Bar Association. He was a member of the Rutgers Moot Court Board and National Team. He served as an extern for the Hon. Dennis M. Cavanaugh, U.S.D.J., in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. George received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Rutgers University.
After law school, George served as a Law Clerk for the Hon. Anne E. Thompson, U.S.D.J., in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
