Riker Danzig is pleased and privileged to announce that The Honorable Victor Ashrafi has joined the Firm after serving for 20 years as a Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, most recently as a Judge of the Appellate Division.
See New Jersey Law Journal story regarding Judge Ashrafi joining Riker Danzig here.
While on the bench from 1995 - 2015, Judge Ashrafi rendered decisions in cases involving insurance coverage, products liability, environmental remediation, professional malpractice, construction, employment and discrimination disputes, zoning and land use matters, and other civil and criminal litigation.
In addition to his judicial experience, Judge Ashrafi served in the United States Attorney’s Office in Newark for 12 years, from 1983 to 1995, supervising all phases of federal criminal prosecutions as Chief of the Criminal Division and supervising federal criminal appeals as Chief of Appeals, positions he held during his tenure there.
Riker Danzig Managing Partner Glenn A. Clark notes that Judge Ashrafi’s dual judicial and government background will bolster Riker’s strengths in litigation, white collar criminal law and alternative dispute resolution. “Riker is already quite fortunate to have the unique legal talent of Justice Stewart Pollock leading our alternative dispute resolution practice. We are excited to now bring Judge Ashrafi on board, knowing his extensive hands-on experience will provide keen insights into the resolution of disputes between parties.”
Samuel P. Moulthrop, head of Riker Danzig’s White Collar Criminal Defense Practice and another former Assistant U.S. Attorney and Chief of the Criminal Division, added, “Judge Ashrafi’s experience as a federal prosecutor gives additional depth to Riker’s White Collar Criminal Practice, and will be of great benefit to our clients in connection with compliance issues, government investigations, and internal corporate investigations.” Judge Ashrafi makes the third former Assistant U.S. Attorney to join Riker; Zahid N. Quraishi, who served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for over five years, joined Riker Danzig in 2013.
