Julien M. Baumrin

Julien M. Baumrin is an Associate in the Firm’s Commercial Litigation Group.

An experienced civil litigator and trial lawyer, Julien has handled a variety of complex commercial cases through trial, mediation, and arbitration in both state and federal courts in New Jersey and New York.  With a trial-based approach to litigation, he believes that every litigation event within a dispute provides an excellent opportunity to advance a client’s position.  As such, he emphasizes assisting clients in assessing their disputes comprehensively while also handling each litigation task with the bold precision necessary to advance their positions continuously throughout the life of each dispute.

Julien earned his J.D. from Rutgers-Newark Law School in 2011, both cum laude and Order of the Coif. During law school, Julien was the Senior Managing Editor for the Rutgers Computer & Technology Journal and a Student Attorney for Rutgers’ Constitutional Litigation Clinic.  He also interned for the Honorable Michael M. Baylson of the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and for the Antitrust Bureau and Executive Office of the New York State Attorney General’s Office while in law school.  Julien received a B.A. in Philosophy from Haverford College in 2003.

Following law school, Julien began his legal career serving the public as an Assistant Corporation Counsel with the New York City Law Department, including six years as a full-time lead trial attorney.  Defending the City and its agents in a variety of high-exposure cases, he achieved an outstanding record of resolving cases through defense verdicts and dismissals at trial, summary judgment victories, and negotiation of consistently favorable settlements when appropriate.  Julien was recognized with a New York City Law Department Division Chief Award for outstanding trial results, and he was selected to teach legal training to fellow attorneys.

Prior to joining Riker Danzig, Julien successfully litigated complex and substantial commercial cases in private practice, with an emphasis on shareholder disputes and minority oppression claims, as well as breach of contract and fiduciary duty claims.

Julien also brings invaluable experience as the Vice President of a closely-held corporation, where he developed a personal appreciation for the concerns and needs of business and commercial clients of all sizes, and which fostered his dedication to managing clients’ potential exposure effectively.
