Maura C. Smith is a Partner in Riker Danzig’s Insurance and Reinsurance Group, with particular expertise in insurance litigation.
Maura represents insurance company clients in coverage litigation, bad faith litigation, and insurance defense litigation of virtually all types. In addition, she has extensive experience in Cyber Liability. She regularly counsels clients regarding sensitive electronic security breaches; compliance obligations with cybersecurity, as well as data privacy laws and regulations; and cyber insurance coverage.
Maura earned her undergraduate degree, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania in 2003. She earned her J.D., magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, in 2006 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. She then served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Michael Baylson, United States District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Maura previously practiced with Riker Danzig from 2011 to 2014. Prior to returning, Maura served as in-house counsel for Mitsui Sumitomo Marine Management.
