Bio
Stuart M. Lederman is a Partner of the Firm whose practice encompasses an unusually broad swath of Riker Danzig’s litigation and governmental affairs departments. He represents clients in construction, real estate, eminent domain, and civil litigation matters. He also has a significant professional liability practice, defending architects and engineers and advising lawyers on ethics matters.
Stuart represents owners, architects and engineers in construction disputes; owners and bidders in bid disputes and debarment issues; and clients that are dealing with government agencies. He also represents government agencies involved in disputes with various parties and advises the agencies in day-to-day operations.
In one of his more well-known cases, Stuart represented the New Jersey Turnpike Authority in matters involving allegations of racial profiling by state troopers. In another, T & E Co. v. Safety Light Industries Inc., Stuart was part of a legal team that established the concept in New Jersey of strict liability for an environmental tort.

His clients have included the Perini Corp., Edwards and Kelcey Inc., Bed Bath and Beyond, the State Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, and EI Associates Inc.
Stuart is a Visiting Associate for the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University. He recently spoke on “Ethical Cliffhangers for Trial Attorneys” for NJICLE, “Lost Profits Disputes: Foundation for Reasonable Economic Damages” at the New Jersey Law Journal’s In-House Counsel CLE Seminar, and “Ethical and Regulatory Considerations for Licensed Engineers in New Jersey” for the American Water Works Association: New Jersey Section.
