Joseph L. Schwartz, Chair of Riker Danzig’s Bankruptcy & Corporate Restructuring Group, has been elected President of the New Jersey Chapter of Turnaround Management Association, effective January 2022, for a two year term, following years of service to NJ TMA.
As President of NJ TMA, Joe looks forward to working with the new members of the NJ TMA Board, as well as the return of in-person networking and educational events, subject to CDC guidance. Joe also looks forward to increasing member engagement and diversity of the membership base.
The Turnaround Management Association (TMA) is a global non-profit professionally diverse organization in the corporate restructuring, renewal, and corporate health space, with more than 10,000 members in 54 chapters worldwide, including 34 North American chapters. Members include turnaround practitioners, attorneys, accountants, advisors, liquidators, consultants, as well as academic, government employees, and members of the judiciary.
In addition to his role with the NJ TMA, Joe is a Subchapter V trustee in New Jersey, is a mediator on the New Jersey bankruptcy court mediation panel, serves on the Corporate Advisory Council of Homeless Solutions, a non-profit organization that offers shelter, services and supportive housing to the homeless and working poor in Morris County through outreach services, a Safe Haven Program for the mentally ill homeless, and a Family Transitional Housing Program. He is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and various other insolvency-related associations. Joe has previously served on other boards, as well as on the New Jersey Supreme Court District V-C Ethics Committee (western Essex County).
