Riker Danzig has again been selected as a “Powerhouse Law Firm” in New Jersey by Law360, one of only three firms in the state to receive the distinction in 2026! This marks the 7th year the Firm has been recognized since 2015. The honor, announced September 20th in Law360's article, “The 2026 Regional Powerhouses, recognizes firms driving emerging trends in their regions.
As part of its coverage, Law360 spoke with several of the Firm's partners about recent significant matters and what makes Riker Danzig a great place to practice law for a September 23 article on the Firm.
Firm Co-chair Anthony J. Borrelli said Riker Danzig has never been in a better position to serve the state. "You're talking about decades upon decades of practice experience and client relationships and institutional clients," he said in the article. "We're a firm that has stayed true to ourselves, true to our roots."
Labor and Employment partner Adam J. McInerney pointed to the Firm's collaborative culture as a reason why we have such a presence in the state. "I don't know that there's an area in the firm that I don't cross over with, that we don't pass work back and forth, which is really one of the great benefits of Riker. If you've got a problem in New Jersey, we can fix it." Adam's Employment Litigation win for the Newark Board of Education in a yearslong legal battle was highlighted in the article.
Also among the matters Law360 highlighted was offshore wind project Atlantic Shores, which faced significant legal and permitting issues that the Firm's Environmental team successfully litigated. The decision "brings quite a bit more certainty to people who are trying to invest in these kinds of projects," said Environmental partner Michael S. Kettler. This case is currently pending on appeal in the Third Circuit, with the Firm's Appellate Practice handling the case alongside our Environmental and Public Utilities practices.
The article pointed to our enviable Appellate Practice, with Managing Partner Michael P. O'Mullan noting that the Firm boasts a deep bench of talent in the area, including a number of retired judges and most attorneys at the firm having some appellate experience. "That sort of insight is invaluable to an attorney, to have someone who's had those experiences sitting up on the panel to help you prepare," added Adam McInerney.
Law360 also featured Litigation partner Derrick R. Freijomil's work guiding the Township of Montclair through years of legal challenges to the redevelopment of Lackawanna Plaza. "Redevelopment itself takes a long time, but if it gets mired down in litigation and things, it takes even longer. We're helping towns really move along and move forward," Derrick said.
