Securities Litigation Associate Robert N. Holup was profiled on February 6, 2023 as a “Member Who Inspires” by the New Jersey State Bar Association in its Bar Report about his strong commitment to charitable causes. In “YLD Member is a Lawyer by Trade, But Volunteering is His Passion,” Robert’s volunteer leadership of several community initiatives is recognized and applauded. Robert, who is co-chair of the Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division Philanthropy Committee, helps plan volunteer events for the Young Lawyers Division, including those at the Community Food Bank of New Jersey and Toni’s Kitchen, a food ministry in Montclair. In another impactful project, he organized a humanitarian aid drive by gathering monetary donations and medical equipment for the Ukrainian American Cultural Center of New Jersey located in Whippany. He also volunteers with MEND’s mobile farmer’s market, as well as mentoring prospective law students and getting involved in other charitable initiatives.
When asked how he manages to find the energy for volunteer work along with a busy legal career, Robert said, “I just continue to engage in things that excite me. I’m passionate about service work, so for me it doesn’t seem like work.”
He also encourages other young lawyers to get involved in the Young Lawyers Division’s charitable projects. “It’s great for networking. You get to meet a lot of people in the community you never would have interacted with. And it’s a great way to see the fruits of your labor.”
