Jeffrey M. Beyer, a partner in Riker Danzig’s Insurance and Litigation groups, authored the article “Removal to Federal Court and the 'Forum Defendant Rule': Congress Enters 'Snap' Removal Thicket," which was published in the March 5, 2020 issue of the New Jersey Law Journal.  The article explains why most corporate defendants prefer to litigate in federal court rather than state court, and discusses a recently introduced bill that would, if passed, eliminate one option of removing a state court lawsuit to a federal court, known as “snap” removals.  In the article, Jeff discusses in detail what a “snap” removal is as well as the controversy surrounding “snap” removals.
