March 6, 2018

Retired Supreme Court Justice Stewart Pollock, who is Of Counsel at Riker Danzig, was honored on March 2, 2018 with a portrait ceremony and reception attended by more than 100 guests that included Supreme Court Chief Justice Stuart Rabner, four other Supreme Court justices, retired Chief Justice Deborah Poritz, Superior Court Assignment Judge Stuart Minkowitz, Justice Pollock’s former law clerks, State and federal judges and magistrates, and family and friends.  The ceremony was held in the historic courtroom at the Morris County Courthouse, featuring five speakers, including Riker Co-Chair Kelly Crawford.   References to the 240 opinions that Justice Pollock wrote as well as personal anecdotes created a wonderful tribute to Justice Pollock.

The oil painting, commissioned by Justice Pollock’s former law clerks and with the help of the Morris County Bar Foundation, features a distinguished Justice Pollock in his judicial robes and will hang in a second-floor vestibule of the Morris County Courthouse.  Riker Danzig sponsored a reception following the ceremony for family and friends.  Remembering his late wife Penny, Justice Pollock concluded his remarks mentioning he could hear Penny telling him, “Stewart, you have talked long enough, it’s time to go to the reception” and enjoy everyone’s company.
