On Monday
June 3, 2019, the Department of Health announced its Request for Applications
(“RFA”) for up to 108 new alternative treatment center permits in New
Jersey. The Department’s plan will greatly expand the current Medical
Marijuana Program in New Jersey, and presents a more viable opportunity for
those seeking to enter the medical marijuana industry than past
RFAs. The application will be released on July 1, 2019.
Applicants will have 45 days to prepare and submit their application.
Importantly,
the permits that will be issued as a result of this RFA will not be vertically
integrated. Applicants will be permitted to apply for individual
cultivation, manufacturing, or dispensing endorsements. According to the
RFA, the Department of Health intends to issue the following endorsements in
each region in New Jersey:
North
Region: 8 cultivation endorsements, 10 manufacturing endorsements, and 20
dispensary endorsements.
Central
Region: 8 cultivation endorsements, 10 manufacturing endorsements, and 20
dispensary endorsements.
South
Region: 8 cultivation endorsements, 10 manufacturing endorsements,
and 14 dispensary endorsements.
