Allen Scazafabo, Jr., a partner in the Firm’s Family Law Group, was quoted in the November 5, 2021 Law360 Pulse article, “NJ Family Law Attys See Vaccine as ‘Next Big thing.’” Allen told Law360 that although he has spoken to clients regarding paying or collecting post-judgment financial obligations due to loss of income, he also noted on the flip side, clients could also argue for more financial support if an ex-spouse’s business benefited from the pandemic. “I think that what we’ve seen in the last 20 months has created an economic reshuffling of the deck in a lot of respects,” said Allen. “While there are a lot of people who have been negatively financially impacted, there are certainly pockets of industry that have been positively impacted.” Allen also noted that if New Jersey schools do begin to require student vaccinations, the arguments in family court may be “based upon, at the time of the application, what the current science is as it evolves, what the current guidelines are.”
Allen told Law360 that it will be important for family law attorneys to stay up-to-date with COVID-19 policies and science. "A family law practitioner sort of has to be a jack of all trades so you understand what's going on, so you don't miss anything," said Allen.
