Employment Law Partner Scott Ohnegian joined an impressive panel to present a virtual CLE on the Armenian Genocide for the New Jersey State Bar Association on April 25, 2023. Entitled “Genocide, Human Rights Law and Justice: Lessons from the Armenian Genocide,” the panel discussed the events that took place during the Armenian genocide that started in 1915, along with an in-depth discussion of the legal ramifications of the slow recognition of the genocide by other countries, the impact of recent genocide recognition on reparations and justice for survivors, as well as an examination and legal analysis of the current conflicts in the region.
Scott, who is Secretary of the Armenian Bar Association Board of Governors, was joined by Special Guest Speaker Senator Robert Menendez; Aram Hamparian, Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee of America; and Dr. Henry Theriault, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs of Worcester State University, President of the International Association of Genocide Scholars, and Chair of the Armenian Genocide Reparations Study Group.
