Partner Stuart M. Lederman was tapped by Law360 to provide insight on 2014 New Jersey Supreme Court decisions to date in its article "Midyear Report: Biggest NJ High Court Decisions of 2014." Stuart commented on Hersh v County of Morris, concerning the 'premises rule" of the State Workers' Compensation Act. At issue was whether a county employee who was injured while crossing a public street to her job from a private parking deck at which the County was renting spaces for employees was entitled to benefits. Stuart noted that "the ruling should provide more certainty for employers and insurers concerning when an employee's route to and from the workplace is covered under the Act and when it isn't." He said, "It allows employers to make these sort of arrangements without exposing themselves to workers' compensation liability."
